R3volution – AI-Driven Risk Management of Water Reuse

The R3volution project focuses on developing a smart digital tool for decision support, risk management, and process optimisation for water reuse. Z Prime leads the development of the data management platform and system risk management integration within this tool, providing advanced AI-driven solutions to enhance system performance and sustainability.

Water scarcity and the need for sustainable water management practices are pressing issues. Traditional methods of water reuse often fall short of addressing the complexities of environmental, social-health, technical, and economic risks associated with water reuse. The Project

R3volution addresses these challenges by integrating advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning (ML), and IoT. The project encompasses smart monitoring, data management, and risk management to optimise water reuse processes. The R3volution platform collects, stores, and homogenises raw and processed data from various sources, ensuring interoperability and seamless data integration. This scalable and expandable system handles increasing data volumes and supports new functionalities and services.

 

Z Prime’s Contributions

Z Prime leads the development of the data management platform and system risk management integration in the R3volution smart digital tool. Z Prime’s advanced AI-driven platform provides seamless hybrid analytics on acquired data with unique process-product quality and machine state monitoring, ML, operations, research, and Decision Support, for system performance optimisation.

Encompassing smart monitoring, AI, and decision support tools, key activities include data management and system risk management. Z Prime’s data management platform collects, stores and homogenises raw and processed data of various formats from external public and private databases, sensors and IoT devices of different manufacturers and specific industrial data management systems in real-time or scheduled intervals. The system is scalable and expandable by design and able to handle ever-increasing data and new functionalities and services. It uses a unique metadata model to ensure the interoperability, data integration and querying of the data ecosystem.

For system risk management, Z Prime developed the models and algorithms for risk management of water reuse options of the R3volution case studies, taking into consideration different environmental, social-health, technical and economic hazards, through risk identification, risk assessment and investigation of risk management measures. The developed algorithms then feed a recommendation system to enable decision-making of water reuse options by various industries.
